THE LOST FOX OF CHANNEL ISLANDS CLIP

Off the coast of southern California are the Channel Islands, home to many endemic species. Among these vulnerable animals is the Channel Island fox. On Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild, Peter Gross and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant learn how conservationists brought back the islands’ natural ecosystem to save animals.

Our co-hosts sail to California’s Channel Islands to unravel the secrets of one of the smallest foxes on Earth. They explore the archipelago’s stunning beauty and discover the ancient connection between foxes and the Native American tribes that brought them to the islands. They learn about the modern-day challenges to fox survival and the critical role that America’s national bird, the bald eagle, plays in their evolution. Finally, they work with biologists to find foxes in the wild and come face-to-face with these amazing creatures for themselves.
